Hayley, born and raised in the Canadian Rockies, got an early start in artistry earning her degree in music composition in Vancouver before exploring the more human-centered core of her creative mind. Her introduction to design was first sparked by her 2.5 year volunteership in Mauritania with the Peace Corps. During that time she learned the local dialect, organized community engagement sessions, and then worked with the community to design, build and run a tri-lingual school for girls. It was a school envisioned by the community, run by the community, and this sparked Hayley’s interest in using the creative process to design for her world.
After transplanting to the USA, she began a 6-year journey seeking training in Industrial Design and fabrication skills in wood, metals, plastics and CAD. This culminated in earning her Masters in Product Design at Domus Academy in Milan, Italy, where she worked in 3 different languages with design studios and corporations to bring them creative solutions with innovative thinking.
Now Hayley resides in Houston working predominantly in the Hospitality sector designing furniture and kitchen wares, developing manufacturing documents for interior design firms, consulting and rapid prototyping for various industries. Recently, during the COVID pandemic, she worked with surgeons at the medical group Texas ENT, to design and develop a patented endoscopic valve used across their practice to increase safety for physicians during scopes and debridements.
Hayley values a hands-on, human-focused approach to designing products and objects. With a rigorous approach to  ideation, she encourages collaboration and research across disciplines. Designed objects should serve a purpose more than beauty, that contribute to our communities uniquely, responsibly, and for a lifetime.
